(Hartly, DE) - South Carolina State (8-2, 6-0 MEAC) held on to the number one position for the third straight week in the FCS Top-10 and are in the driver?s seat in the MEAC Championship race. Tuskegee (10-0, 9-0 SIAC) is number one in Division II for the 11th straight week and are the 2008 SIAC Champs. The Top-10 polls are selected each week by the Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) staff, ranking Historical Black College Football Championship Sub-Division (FCS) Division I and NCAA Division II teams.
South Carolina State crushed Howard (1-8, 0-6 MEAC) last Thursday evening 56-0, Grambling State (8-2, 5-0 SWAC) defeated Arkansas Pine Bluff (1-9, 0-5 SWAC) 28-7 and held on to number two. Norfolk State (4-6, 3-4 MEAC) knocked off number five Morgan State (6-4, 4-2 MEAC) 35-9 dropping them to number nine. Bethune Cookman (7-2, 4-2 MEAC) defeated number seven Hampton (5-4, 4-2 MEAC) 17-6 and moved up to number five.
In Division II, number one Tuskegee defeated Lane (4-7, 4-5 SIAC) and number two Shaw (8-3) defeated number four Elizabeth City State (7-4) 36-7 in the CIAA Championship game dropping them to number seven. Albany State (7-3) moved up to number five with their 42-0 win over Miles. Albany State will move in the Division II national playoffs this weekend taking on Tusculum College (8-3) in Greenville, Tennessee. Langston (8-2) moved to number four and held on to first place in the Central States Football League with their 30-7 win over Southern Nazarene.
