(Hartly, DE) - South Carolina State and Shaw moved up to the number one position in this week's Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) Division I-FCS and Division II Top-10 polls. The Top-10 polls will be selected each week during the 2009 season by the HSRN staff and writers, ranking Historical Black College Football Championship Sub-Division (FCS) Division I and NCAA Division II teams. South Carolina State knocked off #1 Grambling State 34-31 in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge Sunday and was voted unanimously the number one team after the first week of action in Division I. Also moving up was Florida A&M, who took over the number two spot after their season opening 21-12 win over Delaware State. Prairie View beat out Grambling State for the third position with their 17-7 win over Texas Southern. Grambling State fell to fourth and rounding out the top-5 is Alabama A&M, who moved into the Top-10 at the number five position after their 24-7 win over #5 Tennessee State.
In Division II number one Tuskegee was upset by Miles College 23-16 and loss their hold on the top spot, as Shaw knocked off Div. I FCS Bethune Cookman 20-6 and moved up to number one. Albany State moved up to number two with their 45-0 win over Kentucky State and Tuskegee dropped to number three. Langston moved to number four with their 31-6 win over Lincoln (MO) and rounding out the top five is Elizabeth City State with their 51-10 win over J.C. Smith. Miles College moved into the Top-10 for first time this season at the number six position.
